Landon Cromer, 14, of Macomb, Illinois passed away at 12:23 am on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Macomb, IL on September 17, 2008 to Steven and Brittany (Swearingen) Cromer.

Landon is survived by his parents, brother, Mayson Cromer of Macomb, IL; maternal grandparents, John and Tami Swearingen of Industry, IL; paternal grandparents, Mike and Cheryl Cromer of Macomb, IL; aunt, Michelle (Nick) Hite of Industry, IL; aunt, Karrie (Wes) Heaton of Davenport, IA; uncle, Dustin (Kelsie Woodside) Swearingen of Industry, IL; maternal great grandfather, Bill (Karen) Engel of Gravois Mills, MO; and great aunts, uncles and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Lyle Swearingen, Millie Swearingen Engel and Fred and Beulah Totten; paternal great grandparents Betty and Harold Cromer and Glenn and Helen Weiss; also, an uncle, David Van Swearingen.

To know Landon is to love Landon.  His infectious smile and his flawless hair were always present along with his fun-loving personality sure to make those around him smile and laugh.  Landon loved to be outside whether he was at the beach on a family vacation or in the woods for a cookout while riding four wheelers or doing burn outs in the road.  He could spot a sports car from a mile away and knew exactly what it was.   Fishing and playing video games were special times with his brother, Mayson. Typical brothers, he loved to pick on his brother, but no one else could. Landon was ready for dinner and was always “starving” even after just finishing a meal. His dogs, Stella and Knox were eager to play with him and enjoyed his love and attention.

He also loved hanging out with friends; whether it be making multiple trips to Wal-Mart, hanging out in the school parking lot, friend parties, or going to a game, he was always up for a good time.  Landon made friends all over the area and had friends wherever he went.  He enjoyed baseball and football, whether he was playing on the field or cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs or Chicago Cubs.

Landon lived his life to the fullest and took advantage of the short time he had on this earth. He was loved deeply by his family and his friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 15, 2023 at The Crossing – Macomb from 3:30 pm until 7:00 pm; where a Celebration of Life will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday September 16, 2023 with Pastor Donnie Case officiating. Burial will be held privately in the Industry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Landon Cromer Memorial Fund.

Friends and family are encouraged to be casual and wear “Black and Orange” as we gather to honor Landon’s life. Also, everyone is encouraged to bring a written memory or picture to leave as a memento for the family to enjoy. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
