M-R Board Approves Balanced Budget for ’23-’24 Academic Year

The Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education has approved a balanced budget for the 2023-2024 school year, reports Superintendent Ed Fletcher:

“Numbers look good in regards to funding. Because of our reliance on Evidence Based Funding, we have a balanced budget, so we don’t have to do a deficit reduction plan and relying on Evidence Based Funding to get to adequate funding level as determined by the state. This year we will be at 72% of adequacy. Of course the goal is 100%. I think when we started we were at like 58 or 59%, so each year they add money and depending on how much we get, we get a little bit closer to adequacy. Combined local, state, and federal resources, based on your student population and demographics and such, with this calculation that they feel we should have with those three combined revenue sources.”

Furthermore, Superintendent Fletcher informs enrollment in the Monmouth-Roseville school district for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade is 1,579 students, a 9.7% reduction since 2006-2007. Looking at that same year to now, there has been a 558% increase in bilingual and English-Spanish Language students in the district.
