Macomb Man Charged with Tampering Motor Vehicle/Macomb Police Squad Cars

On 08/30/23 at approximately 7:00am, Macomb Police Officers found two Macomb Police
squad cars with flat tires while parked in the Macomb Police Department parking lot. Upon
inspection of the tires, the Officers found the valve stem caps and the valve stem cores. The
suspect had removed the valve stem cores and flattened both tires. Macomb Police Officers
reviewed video cameras on the back of the building. They were able locate and observe the
suspect walk up to both squad cars and flatten the tires. Using their skills and training, the
Officers tracked the suspect south bound on S. Johnson and later into an apartment building on
W. Piper Street. Officers learned the identity of the suspect, Mark A. Wiltermood of Macomb, IL.
Officers interviewed Wiltermood at his apartment. Wiltermood was arrested and charged with
Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Class A misdemeanor. Wiltermood was taken to the
McDonough County Jail where he was processed and lodged.
