Popular Pork Education Program Returns to the Classroom This Fall

On October 24th, 3rd and 4th-grade students in Illinois will be able to take part in the popular There’s a Pig in My Classroom program with the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The There’s a Pig in My Classroom program is a virtual field trip program that teaches students about the pork industry through interactive lessons. IPPA’s Lana Shovlin said available spots filled up in less than a day, but there will be other opportunities to take part in this program.

“We do one in March, and we do one in October- so this is our fall session,” said Shovlin. “It’s the same virtual field trip but we have teachers that come back and do it again, we have teachers that hear about it from other teachers and we don’t want them to wait an entire year to have the experience so we offer the fall and spring.”

Shovlin added that IPPA is working to open more slots in the fall sessions, so interested teachers who were not able to register for their classes should watch social media for any new openings.
