Story by Kadin Rogers

The West Central junior high softball team is making their 3rd straight trip to the IESA State Championship Tournament. The 17-2 Lady Heat recently knocked off Carthage in the Liberty Regional Championship, before getting the best of Pleasant Hill in the Winchester Sectional over the weekend. The sectional win means West Central is now heading to Normal tomorrow morning to take on 13-3 Carrolton St. John in the state semis. Appearing on the WRAM morning show this morning, West Central Superintendent Stacey Day gave more information about the Heat’s plans for tomorrow, as well as giving big praise to the coaching staff that guided this team to yet another deep playoff run.

If West Central takes down Carrolton St. John in the semifinals tomorrow, they will play the winner of Cambridge and Brimfield on Saturday afternoon. If the Heat lose they will play in the third place game Saturday morning.
