David LeRoy Ryner, 80, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 9:12 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

David was born November 7, 1942 in Galesburg and raised by his parents, Robert and Frances M. (Ring) Ryner. Dave married Becky S. Strahlman on September 27, 2005 in Galesburg.

Dave is survived by his wife, Becky of Galesburg; four daughters, Tamara (Don) Laycock of Columbus Falls, Montana, Traci Ryner of Galesburg, Kimmi (Pete) Walker of East Peoria, and Angela Ryner Biloxi, Mississippi; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by one stepson, Matt Olson of Galesburg; one brother, Gary (Chris) Ryner of Galesburg; and two sisters, Deb Green of Dixon, Illinois and Lori (Mike) Landon of Galesburg. Dave was preceded in death by his dad, Robert; his mother, Frances Sturgeon; and a stepson Michael Olson.

Dave worked as a custodian for Galesburg CUSD #205, retiring in 2003. He had a love for motorcycles, from racing them in early years to leisurely rides. Dave loved nature where he enjoyed horseback riding and camping through the years. An avid sports fan, he loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on November 4, 2023 at Harley’s Pub beginning at 5:00 pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR).
