Donna A. Yelm, 91, of Galesburg, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the Knox County Nursing Home.

She was born June 17, 1932, in Galesburg, the daughter of Albert M. and G. June (Lundquist) Garfield. She married Milton H. Yelm Jr. on October 26, 1951, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death October 25, 2020, after nearly 69 years of marriage.

She is survived by a son, Jon (Patricia Murphy) Yelm of Galesburg; daughter, Vicki (Doug) Tenhaaf of Galesburg; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Dixie J. Miller of Moline. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven Yelm; two grandchildren; a sister, J. Diane Yelm; and a brother-in-law, Charles Miller.

Donna worked for Giant Foods for 40 years, where she was the head cashier. She retired December 28, 1998. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1950. Donna hosted all holiday gatherings at her home for over 50 years, inviting both family and friends. She had a very generous spirit and contributed to many charities and causes. Donna was creative and talented in music and arts. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and crafting.

Cremation will be accorded. Per Donna’s wish, no visitation or service is planned. Her remains will be interred at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is honored to serve the family.
