Dorothy A. “Dottie” Henry, 74, of Pontiac, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL passed away peacefully at 4:45 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023 at OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

She was born on August 8, 1949 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Roy L. and Lea E. (Gittings) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1967.

Dottie married Butch Henry in Monmouth on September 21, 1968 and he survives.

She worked several years in administration for Keister’s Tire Center and later at Willits Grade School both in Monmouth. She enjoyed being a homemaker and, most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandsons, Kevin and Zavier. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, tending to her flower garden and crocheting.

She was baptized and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth. While living in Pontiac she attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving Dottie is her husband of 55 years, Butch Henry; daughter, Joy Henry of Pontiac; 2 grandsons, Kevin Turner and Zavier Turner both of Pontiac; her sister; Penny (Jeff) Palmer of Galesburg, IL, and four brothers, Roy (Jami) Johnson, Roger (Joy) Johnson, Rodney (Lois) Johnson, all of Monmouth, Robin (Sue) Johnson of Dunlap, IL, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Sandy Fischer.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, October, 6, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home.
