Larry A. Fritz, 76, of Berwick, IL, passed away at 10:38 am, Friday, October 20, 2023 at his daughter’s home in Galesburg, IL.

He was born on May 22, 1947 in Monmouth, IL, the son of James G. and Bonnie J. (Beresford) Fritz. He was raised and educated in the Roseville and Abingdon area and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1965.  He later attended Brown’s Business College. 

Larry served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a proud Navy Seabee. 

He married Elizabeth E. West on July 11, 1967 in Abingdon, IL. They were married for 56 years, until her passing on July 22, 2023.

Larry worked as a press operator at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, IL for over 30 years until his retirement.  He was a quiet man, but always had a ready smile.  Larry enjoyed reading, listening to music, spending time outdoors and loved being around animals.    

Larry is survived by his children, Alyssa (Ramon) Ceja of Abingdon, IL and Alyson (Joe) Fritz-Buras of Galesburg, IL; four grandchildren, Seth Cameron of Erie, IL, Kerrick Cameron of Davenport, IA, Ballari Ceja of Abingdon, IL and Trinidad Ceja of Abingdon, IL; and three sisters-in-law, Phyllis (David) Tapp, Gayla (Gary) Steele, and Linda (Richard) Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Gary Fritz. Larry’s family will have a bonfire from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Larry’s home (986 130th St., Berwick, IL 61417) They would love for you to join them to celebrate Larry’s life, please dress casually and bring a chair and come visit.  Memorials can be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
