Michael D. Carrico, 74, of Davenport, IA and formerly of Roseville, IL, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.
Mike was born on September 9, 1949 in Galesburg, IL to Arthur and Evaleen (Bundren) Carrico. He was a 1967 graduate of Roseville High School and later graduated from Carl Sandburg College.
For many years, Mike was a store manager for Musicland in Chicago, Peoria, and Galesburg and was named Manager of the Year in 1998. Most recently, he worked at Hy-Vee in Davenport until his retirement.
An accomplished musician, Mike played drums for Third From The Sun, a popular band in the Monmouth/Galesburg area during the 1970s. He also played with his brother Terry in the Midnight Ramblers during the late 70s and early 80s.
Mike had a deep love and knowledge of music and was a huge fan of the Moody Blues. He was also a rabid Boston Red Sox fan and took great joy in their recent World Series championships. Mike loved family get-togethers and had a great love for his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his three sisters: Linda (Fred) Cundiff of Roseville, Donna (Randy) Chesnut of Galesburg, and Patti Randolph of Galesburg; his brother, Terry (Norma) Carrico of Chariton, IA; and his nine nieces and nephews: Ed and Kevin Cundiff, Tori Kelly, Adam and T.J. Chesnut, Emily and Nathan Trimble, Travis Carrico and Mona Douglas. He is also survived by numerous cousins.
Mike was preceded by his parents, Arthur and Evaleen.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation has been accorded. Interment in Roseville Cemetery will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of his great-nephew, Jace Carrico.
