Richard “Rick” Lawrence Turner, 63, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois surrounded by his children.

Rick was born April 25, 1960 to Howard Lawrence and Judith “Judy” Ann (Brones) Turner in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the eldest of five children, Teresa (Ronnie) of Grinnell, Iowa, William of Gilman, Iowa, Christine (Randy) of Kirkville, Missouri, and Jon (Andrea) of Fredericktown, Missouri. Rick would join the US Army in 1982 where he met his wife Rebecca “Becky” Lynn. They would join in marriage on May 20, 1983. They went on to have three children, Elizabeth Ann of Galesburg, Joshua Lawrence of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Jennifer Marie (Lonnie) of Galesburg.

Rick was a major Kansas City Chiefs fan as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved NASCAR and the history channel. Rick was a huge bass fisher and loved going to the lake with his grandchildren, teaching them all he knows. He was a veteran of the US Army.

Rick is preceded in death by his wife Rebecca and his father Howard. He is survived by his mother, Judy; his children, Lizz, Josh, and Jenn, nine grandchildren, Chloe, Hunter, Maya, Jade, Trinity, Rylee, Liam, Howard, and Zelda; and his siblings.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following visitation. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home, 1849 N. Seminary St, Galesburg, IL 61401.
