Safe Harbor Provides Services Locally for Domestic Violence Survivors

Share

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in four women and one in nine men will be the victim of domestic violence at some point in their lifetime, and on average 20,000 phone calls are placed to the national domestic violence hotlines each day. Locally, the Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center offers a variety of services to support survivors, shares Housing and Resource Advocate Cassy Greig:

“Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center is a domestic violence advocacy center where people can come for any sort of needs that they have in relation to domestic violence. If you are in some sort of relationship where domestic violence is occurring, we provide court advocacy, we have a 24 hour crisis hotline people can call in about, 309-343-SAFE, so 309-343-7233. We supply clothing and food for people in need, children’s programs, community education, and other references to other social service agencies.”

In 2022, Safe Harbor assisted 600 survivors of domestic violence in Knox County.
