After 40 years of being operated by Warren Achievement Center, Warren County Public Transportation is now being run by the Warren County Board. Director and Compliance Officer Morgan Lewis reports a contract with Monmouth College was recently agreed on, which is a step forward in further expanding hours and territory:
“We actually just signed a new contract this year with Monmouth College and we can take them to Galesburg to the train station, to the store for groceries, or down to the health clinic. We are always looking to service more people. Right now, in the next year, we are hoping to start a deviated fixed route on Wednesday evenings from 4 to 7. We are hoping we can get that started in the next couple of months as soon as we secure a new driver. That would allow us to have a fixed schedule in the evenings where it will loop every hour around several stops in Monmouth. We are always wanting to possible set up Medicaid billing, which would be a great help with helping people get more medical services included. That is another goal of ours that I am working on and hopefully will have set up within the next couple of months.”
Warren County Public Transportation operates during the hours of 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, offering $1 one way rides in Monmouth, $3 rides to Kirkwood, $5 rides to Roseville, and $7 rides to Galesburg.
