Share

Second quarter retail numbers have been released for Galesburg and Monmouth, shares Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer:

“KCAP looks at a cohort of communities, that includes Peoria, Champaign. Bloomington-Normal, Rock Island, Decatur, Moline, Galesburg, Monmouth, and Springfield. The average retail growth among all of those cities in Quarter 2 was 1.4 percent, so positive growth. Looking specifically at Galesburg and Monmouth, Galesburg had a small but positive growth of .3 percent in Quarter 2. That is Quarter 2 of 2023 compared to Quarter 2 of 2022. Monmouth had a small decline of .5 percent in Quarter 2 of 2023 compared to Quarter 2 of 2022. Both of our cities were behind average growth rates of that group of cities as a whole.”

Looking back at the last four quarters, Springer informs Monmouth has a 1 percent average quarterly sales growth and Galesburg’s average quarterly sales growth has been 1.2 percent.
