Warren County Public Transit Seeking Not-for-Profit Operator

Share

As Warren County Public Transit, or WCPT, has transitioned from being operated by Warren Achievement Center to now being run by the Warren County Board, Director of Transportation Morgan Lewis informs the board is currently seeking out a not-for-profit organization to become the WCPT operator:

“Warren Achievement Center has been our operator for almost 40 years now. We are going in a new direction just with state regulations and we are at a good point to make a switch. We brought two options forward to the Board last month; one would be to choose Monmouth College as our operator and then another option would be to let the County run all operations. Currently right now we are doing the management and Warren Achievement is providing the employees to run our busses, dispatch, and a mechanic. We have one more not-for-profit right now currently that is looking into it and getting the facts. If there are any other not-for-profits in the Warren County area that would be interested in possible becoming our not-for-profit operator, that they let themselves be known.”

Warren County Public Transit offers $1 one way rides in Monmouth, $7 one way rides to Galesburg, and other towns throughout Warren County by calling 309-734-6001.
