Western Illinois University is proud to announce its participation in GivingTuesday, November 28, a global movement that encourages philanthropy and generosity to support meaningful causes. In 2015, WIU joined the GivingTuesday initiative, fostering a tradition of giving that has continued to grow over the years.

GivingTuesday, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to inspire generosity worldwide. It provides an opportunity for friends and alumni of WIU to invest in the future of students and the University, while upholding the rich tradition of philanthropy that has been a cornerstone of WIU’s success.

“GivingTuesday is an opportunity for our friends and alumni to invest in the future of our students and our University while continuing the tradition of philanthropy at Western,” WIU Director of Annual Giving Tim Hallinan said. “Many friends and alumni use GivingTuesday as an opportunity to make a year-end, tax-deductible gift, but their contributions are much more meaningful to Western and our students. When Leathernecks unite in their generosity on GivingTuesday, they fuel the dreams of tomorrow’s leaders and change-makers while inspiring campus-wide feelings of gratitude, goodwill and institutional pride. It’s a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of our Leatherneck community.”

GivingTuesday at WIU offers the opportunity for individuals and organizations to direct their gifts to support any scholarship, program or initiative at the University. By participating in GivingTuesday, supporters of WIU play a crucial role in shaping the future and empowering the next generation of leaders.
