Are You Experiencing Leg or Knee Pains?

Technology and treatment plans in the medical field are constantly changing. Providers at Heartland Vascular Center in Peoria use ultrasound or x-ray imaging to treat patients, explains Interventional Radiologist Dr. Andrew Mullins:

“We are able to place catheters and wires into arteries or veins and using live x-rays to navigate around to different areas of the body and then perform treatment. We are able to care for patients with vascular disease and a narrowing that need stents in their legs to improve the blood flow to their feet to try and avoid amputation. We have treatments that we can do for patients who have osteoarthritis in their knees who have been getting injections and the injections aren’t working anymore. There is actually a new procedure where we can select the arteries that go to the knee joint and inject little tiny beads to reduce the inflammation in the knee and the improvement in their pain level. It is actually a lot more durable than knee injections, it can last up to two years.”

The Heartland Vascular Center is partnering with Solvera Health to offer services to patients at the Galesburg location.
