Burlington Man Arrested in Carthage for Burglary

Sheriff Travis Duffy reports an evening burglary arrest on December 12, 2023, at 2171 N County Road 2550, Carthage, IL.

Deputies were called to the above address to investigate a report of a burglary. Deputies conducted an investigation and located the suspect a short time later.

The suspect was identified as Jon M. Pitts, age 36 of Burlington, IA.

Pitts had gone into the residence and stolen several items which deputies were able to recover in Pitts’ vehicle.

Pitts was arrested and transported to the Hancock County Jail. He was booked, processed and remains held pending a detention hearing.

All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
