Kathleen C. Lowe-Arthur, 71, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 9:40 pm, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at her home.

She was born on July 27, 1952 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Roger A. Lowe, Sr. and Catherine A. (Carey) Lowe.  Kathy was raised and educated in Decatur, and graduated from St. Teresa High School, where she was acknowledged as the Most Outstanding Student in 1971, and was four-year cheerleader. She later graduated from Springfield Junior College, Springfield, IL; Millikin University, Decatur, IL; and the University of Illinois, Champaign, IL. 

Kathy married Tom Arthur in 1983. They later divorced. 

Kathy taught art for many years.  She worked in the Tri-City School District, Buffalo, IL; Monmouth School District 38, Monmouth, IL; and Monmouth-Roseville District 238.  After retirement from teaching, Kathy, worked at Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth.  She was a member of the American Association of University Women, P.E.O. Chapter E in Monmouth, IL, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Warren County History Museum, Buchanan Center for the Arts, and the Warren County Retired Teachers. 

Kathy was a member of the First Christian Church in Monmouth.  She loved cats, and always remembered to pass on her thoughts and well wishes for everyone’s birthday or other special events that they would be celebrating.  She was a doting daughter and loved and took care of her parents until the very end. She took special interest in her nieces, nephews and their families who returned the love she so happily gave out.  All who knew and loved Kathy breathed easier because she was a part of their lives. She also loved traveling with her close friend Kathy Hayes and getting together for lunches with family.

Surviving Kathy is one brother, Roger A. Lowe, Jr. of Princeton, IL; one sister, Mary Ann Flynn of Decatur, IL; six nieces and six nephews. 

She was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Lowe, and one niece, Christine Vest. 

A Time of Remembrance will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Buchanan Center for the Arts, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Buchanan Center for the Arts, Western Illinois Animal Rescue (WIAR) or the First Christian Church in Monmouth and sent to the funeral home.   McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
