Larry S. Brooks, 76, of Monmouth, IL died at 4:30 pm on December 20, 2023, at his home.  

He was born October 12, 1947 in Galesburg, IL the son of Vernon Claire and Isabelle Louise (Bessell) Brooks.  He was raised and educated in the Roseville and Monmouth area, attending Roseville High School.

Larry served with the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1965-1968 where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Silver insert.

Larry was a meat cutter for Smithfield in Monmouth for 24 years before retiring in 2011.

He was a lifetime member of both the Monmouth VFW Post #2301 and Central Illinois Abate.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Wilson and his brother, William Ischer of Monmouth.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are planned at this time.  It was Larry’s wish to have burial with Military Honors take place at Sea.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the local arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
