Four IDOT Snowplows Struck This Week

Share

The message from IDOT has always been “don’t crowd the plow” and for good reason. This week 4 IDOT plows have been struck by vehicles. Paul Wappel, IDOT Spokesperson, says no serious injuries have been reported.

“Please give these operators space. These are big pieces of equipment that they operate, it is hard; you will see them, but they may not see you because of so much going on. The other thing is, the road in front of the plow is not going to be better than what is behind the plow. Also, if a plow gets hit, we have to inspect it and check it, so that means that plow is potentially taken out of service for however long and then that means the road will take that much longer to get cleared. It just makes sense, just give them space so they can do their job and everybody will be safe.”

IDOT is getting ready for another strong winter storm that could impact roadways by the end of the week.
