Mrs. Linda L. Hamilton, 77, died peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born February 26, 1946, in Princeton, Illinois to Marion E. and Alice D. (Parsons) Borop. She married Richard L. “Dick” Hamilton on January 6, 1980, in Walnut, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Laura (and Eric) Cole of Fishers, Indiana and Mary (and Jeremy) Heeringa of Williamsport, Maryland, three grandsons, Davis Cole, Matthew Cole, and Joel Heeringa, two sisters-in-law, Sharon Borop of Antioch, Illinois and Ann Hamilton of Kewanee, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents and a brother, Gene Borop.

Linda graduated from Walnut High School in 1964. She was an Administrative Assistant at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg for over 20 years. She later was a House Director at Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Kentucky. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. She served as an Elder and a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Group Leader. She was also a volunteer for the Carl Sandburg Children’s Choir and a member and volunteer for the GHS Band Boosters. Linda and Dick were life members of the Little John Conservation Club in Victoria, Illinois.

As Linda requested, her body will be donated to science. A committal service will be in the East Linwood Cemetery Scattering Garden in Galesburg at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
