In March 2020, Dan Byers decided to market his cattle operation to a broader audience, launching 6 Pack Meats. With this venture, Byers went from raising freezer beef for customers in the western Illinois area to reaching new customers across the United States. Even after expanding the business, Byers says they are involved with every step in the process, keeping the business local.
“Other than the actual processing, we go to a USDA-inspected locker for that. We’ve got the cold storage at our house and as orders come in either you know, through through our website or people have contacted us, directly,” said Byers. “We will deliver within 30 miles of our residence, or, every Monday we ship out. We do it once a week for logistic reasons. So packages aren’t getting stuck in transit over the weekend with the fact that you’re shipping frozen product.”
On top of delivering beef straight to customers, Byers says they also supply ground beef to Chicks in Macomb and Quincy.
