Marsha M. Avery,90, of Kirkwood, IL passed away at 3:33 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2024, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, IL.

She was born October 20, 1933, in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Marion Milo and Snoda Coursey (Bence) Gulick. She was raised and educated in Burlington and later Kirkwood, attending Kirkwood High School.

Marsha married Jesse L. Avery on July 12, 1950, in Kirkwood, IL and he survives.

She was a homemaker and worked at IRC in Burlington for a short time. She later worked at Gale Products in Galesburg, IL for 10 years retiring in 1983.

She was member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church.  Marsha enjoyed crafts, painting and playing cards, especially Pinochle. Marsha loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren, attending her children’s, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s many sporting events.

Survivors her husband, Jesse L. Avery of Kirkwood; her 2 children, Don “Butch” (Sue) Avery of Alexis, IL, Pat (Phil) Nelson of Oneida, IL; 4 grandchildren, Megan (Sergio) Calleros, Kara (Bryan) Leffler, Jesse (Christy) Thornton and Lyndsay (John) Olson; 10 great-grandchildren, Dominic, Drew, Dylon, Avery, Nolan, Ian, Derrick (Taylor),  Carter, Kaylyn and Vivian; brother, Dan (Gladys) Gulick of Kirkwood; sister, Gloria Barr of Macomb, IL; half-brother, Richard Coursey of Monmouth; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, January 22, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  A private family interment will take place at Center Grove Cemetery, Kirkwood.  Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am Monday morning at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Kirkwood United Methodist Church or the Kirkwood Senior Center and sent to the funeral home.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
