Monmouth City Council to Consider Reserved Parking on East 2nd Avenue

Share

Currently in the process of transforming the former First Christian Church in Monmouth into apartment spaces, a request for reserved parking on East 2nd Avenue has been presented to City Council, reports Mayor Rod Davies:

“They do have 17 off-street parking spaces for the 17 residents that they will have there, but they were requesting that we reserve the space that is kind of off the street that was diagonal parking right along East 2nd Avenue, in the area by the post office. Typically, that used to be parking for the church when it was there and active. They are requesting that we reserve those for events that they will be having in their sanctuary when church services get going and for their community room. Council had some discussion about that and expressed some concerns about reserving spaces and then requests form other organizations or groups that would likely also request reserved parking for theirs as well. We will consider that carefully.”

Additionally, Gilberto Vasquez had requested Monmouth City Council for a Class 1 Liquor License to be able to serve pre-mixed sealed cocktails to go. Mayor Davies informs Council did approve the city attorney to draft an ordinance, which will then be voted on at the next meeting.
