Snow Cleanup Continues in City of Monmouth

Share

Snow removal from the city streets of Monmouth is underway following two significant snow falls, reports Mayor Rod Davies:

“These long duration storms that come and go and then the huge amounts of snow, which really taxes the equipment, and as you can see everywhere, trying to find places to put the snow after all of these snow events. It really is a challenge for our guys. Some of them stayed and slept at the city garage so they could be sure to be here to get back on shift because they weren’t sure they could get in or out with the road conditions out in the county and with the state. Our crews are real busy right now hauling the snow away from the medians and they will be working on the quadrants and parking lots and trying to get things cleaned up. It was a very expensive snow event as well.”

The recent snow events will cost the City of Monmouth between $70,000 and $80,000 in public funds after accounting for overtime, snow removal, and use of salt.
