Snow Emergency Declared for City of Monmouth

Snow Emergency begins: Midnight Thursday January 18, 2024

Snow Emergency ends: 8AM Friday January 19, 2024

Possible accumulations: 2-3 inches with up to 35 mph winds causing blowing and drifting snow.

The City of Monmouth is alerting Monmouth residents that a SNOW EMERGENCY will be in effect for MIDNIGHT THURSDAY JANUARY 18TH UNTIL 8AM FRIDAY JANUARY 19TH. ANY VEHICLES PARKED ON A “SNOW EMERGENCY” ROUTE NEED TO BE MOVED OFF THE ROUTE. This will help facilitate snow plowing and the removal of snow on Snow Emergency Streets.

According to the National Weather Service and local news forecasts, possible snow accumulations of 2-3 inches of snow could fall. A fast-moving storm system will bring widespread snow by late this afternoon through early Friday morning. This will be dry, fluffy snow that will blow around. Winds gusting up to 35 mph will lead to blowing and drifting snow making for hazardous travel conditions. After the snow ends the blowing and drifting will linger for much of Friday morning.

This announcement is being issued to remind the community that any vehicles parked on designated snow routes during the Snow Emergency WILL BE TICKETED.

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS AND TIME SPAN PREDICTIONS ARE TAKEN FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND LOCAL WEATHER FORECASTS.

BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USECAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
