Installation of Bluetooth Door Locks at Monmouth-Roseville High School on the List of Upcoming Projects

Share

At the recent Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education meeting, a bid to install updated door hardware at the high school was approved, explains Superintendent Ed Fletcher:

“As part of the project of working on safety at the high school, we are going to Bluetooth door locks that also would give administration or anyone in the office, if we have an issue, an active intruder drill, or something come up, we can push a button and lock the doors. We have done some research on intruder events at schools and one of the things that was always scary to me is if a teacher forgets the key to their door lock and then all of a sudden something happens and they close their door and they forget that their door is not locked, they have to seemingly somehow go out to the hallway, reach their hand around, lock the door, and then close it. We don’t want to put our teachers in that situation so the idea is over the next four years after this year is upgrade all of our schools to have those type of locks.”

Other projects on the agenda for the Monmouth-Roseville School District include remodeling the bathrooms at the high school and the science classrooms and basement ceilings at the junior high.
