Judge Ray Cavanaugh Elected Chief Judge of 9th Judicial Circuit; Judge Dave Vancil Appointed to 4th District Appellate Court

The 9th Judicial Circuit in Illinois, which covers Warren, McDonough, Knox, Henderson, Hancock, and Fulton Counties, has seen some changes in judge appointments in 2024, shares retired Warren County State’s Attorney Chip Algren:

“Dave Vancil was appointed to the 4th District Appellate Court. Dave was resident Circuit Judge from Henderson County and he was also Chief Judge of our Circuit. The 4th District covers 41 counties in Central Illinois. The northern boundary basically is just north of Rock Island County and the southern boundary is just below Springfield. The 4th District Appellate Court sits in Springfield and they hear appeals that come out of any of the 41 counties. He was sworn into the Appellate Court on February 1st. Also, connected to Warren County is Ray Cavanaugh. Ray Cavanaugh is a Circuit Judge in our Circuit and Ray was recently elected by the other Circuit Judges, in our Circuit, to become the Chief Judge of the Circuit.”
