Marcia A. Cortelyou, age 74, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at her home.

She was born April 15, 1949 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Lowell Dean and Mary Ellen Wilson Cortelyou.

Marcia was employed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a Licensed Practical Nurse from 1973 until her retirement in 2013. She was a graduate of Media-Wever High School in Media, Illinois and the Southeast Iowa School of Nursing in West Burlington, Iowa. She was an avid supporter and volunteer for Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester. She also sang in the Rochester Chorale for several years. She was a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team and especially, Marcus Sherels, former Viking player. She loved the Caribou Coffee Company and was a regular at her local coffee shop.

Survivors include two nieces: Lori (Jeremy) Schultz of Clive, IA, Jaime DeCrane of Stronghurst, IL, four great-nieces and nephews: Colten and Paige DeCrane and Will and Anna Schultz, two sisters-in-law: Elaine Cortelyou and Karen Henry, both of Stronghurst, her goddaughter: Erica Cain Schumacher, several cousins and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Mitchell Cortelyou, and one nephew: Anthony Cortelyou.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for Paws & Claws Humane Society.
