Robert A. Gittings, 92, of Little York, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Allure of Knox County, Galesburg, IL.

Bob was born February 23, 1931 in Lomax, IL the son of Cecil Robert and Dorothy Mabel (Dowell) Gittings. He was raised and educated in Lomax and Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School.

Bob served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Bob married Geraldine D. Hillman in Monmouth on December 15, 1951 and she survives.

Bob was a carpenter working on bridges and houses.

He loved owning and raising all sorts of animals, especially horses. He once belonged to the Henderson County Coon Hunters.

Survivors include his wife; his 2 daughter, Terry Davis of Smithshire, IL and Valerie (Michael) Huber of Seaton, IL; 3 sons, Cecil (Paula) Gittings of Tuttle, OK, Daryl (Debra) Gittings of Allendale, IL and Anthony (Terri) Gittings of Stronghurst, IL; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; 6 great great great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Edward Gittings and Perry Gittings both in Davenport, IA; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Katie Arnold and 7 sisters.

Cremation has been accorded. No services or gathering is planned at this time. Memorials may be given to the Robert A. Gittings Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
