The Monmouth College swimming team took part in the Midwest Conference Championship swim meet hosted at Grinnell College over the weekend. As teams, the men’s swimmers finished in 6th place with a total of 228 points, while the women’s team placed in 5th with a total of 225 points. Individually, the Scots women’s swimmers got a 2nd overall finish out of sophomore Cally Tate, who finished the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.11 which broke her own school record by over 2 seconds. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, Monmouth College Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva says that Tate’s success is leading to some of the best individual finishes that the swimming program has seen in recent years.
Tate, a graduate of Monmouth-Roseville High School, started her college swimming career at Illinois Wesleyan and transferred to Monmouth after her freshman season. For the full interview with Monmouth College Sports Information Director Nathan Baliva, visit the Sports Podcast section.
