With the hiring of Brian Higbee as the next High School Principal at United, the position for a Spanish teacher is now open, which Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt reports they are working with the Illinois State Board of Education to fill that vacancy:

“We reached out to ISBE, the Illinois State Board of Education, and there is a program and some local districts have taken advantage of it and we got some information from them. We officially joined up our efforts with ISBE to bring perhaps a Spanish teacher form Spain or Mexico to us to work in our building and provide that service for our kids.”

Additionally, Superintendent Whitsitt reminds the United community that March 1st is a full no school day for students as teachers will have an in-service day, providing a glimpse of the reorganization of grade levels in the buildings next year.
