Western Illinois University boasts the second largest spring international student population in history, and high school student dual enrollment is up by 24%, according to 10th-day data released by WIU’s Institutional Research and Planning. With total enrollment at 6,495, the international headcount is 816.
WIU welcomed 104 high school students who are choosing early admission to college.
“High school students are seeking opportunities to begin earning their four-year degree, and we are happy to provide that opportunity for them,” WIU President Guiyou Huang said.
Undergraduate Admissions continues to find the best ways to provide prospective students an in-depth look at WIU on both the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses, such as Discover Western preview days, daily visit/campus tours, QC Welcome Wednesdays, a series of transfer student focused events and various activities partnering with academic programs. Admissions also continues to connect with high numbers of students during off-campus visits at community colleges and high schools.
“Strengthening our recruitment, enrollment and retention efforts remain our top priorities. Our admissions and retention staff, along with many others across both campuses, have been working tirelessly on recruitment initiatives, as well as providing the essential programs and services our students need to succeed,” Huang added. “We are continuing to aggressively recruit students in Illinois, and beyond, including neighboring states and internationally.”
