The Monmouth-Roseville varsity baseball team will get their long-awaited 2024 spring season underway on Wednesday, as the Titans host the Stark County Rebels at Sunny Lane Field at 4:30. Monmouth-Roseville is coming off their most wins in a season since 2018, as the Titans compiled a record of 15-10-1 in 2023. Their season ended in the regional quarterfinals to a very good Brimfield/Elmwood team. From last season the Titans did graduate some key pieces in C.J Johnson and Justin Brooks, who both pitched over 30 innings each while adding reliable hitting. Offensively, Silas Braun played in all 26 games for Monmouth-Roseville, hitting 2 home runs. These losses for M-R do not leave the Titans without veteran talent, however, as they will have 10 senior players on their 2024 roster.
Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning for the first time this season, 3rd year head baseball coach at Monmouth-Roseville Jordan Ball discussed what he expects out of the team in their first game action on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s Titans vs Rebels contest will begin with the first pitch from Sunny Lane at 4:30. The opener starts a busy stretch of games for the Titans, as following their matchup with Stark County, the Titans will be at Knoxville Thursday and at IVC High School in Chillicothe on Friday against LaSalle-Peru. Monmouth-Roseville is back at IVC on Saturday against the host Grey Ghosts and then return home on Monday to host Abingdon-Avon.
