While many farmers store a lot of their grain on their farms, some have turned to off-farm storage as well. Illinois can store 1.65 billion bushels of grain off the farm within its 810 off-farm grain facilities across the state. This puts the state of Illinois as number one for off-farm storage capabilities according to a report by World Grain.

According to the report, Illinois’ on-farm grain storage capacity in 2022 was 1.5 billion bushels, which follows Iowa’s 2.05 billion bushels and Minnesota’s 1.55-billion-bushel capacity.

In 2022, Illinois farmers produced 2.268 billion bushels of corn, 677.25 billion bushels of soybeans, and 22.24 million bushels of wheat in the year.
