In mid-February the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), announced the 26 members that were selected to the 2024 IHSA All-State Academic Team. All schools were allowed to nominate one male and one female student for the prestigious honor, so long as those individuals carried a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 GPA scale after the 7th semester of the school year, as well as having competed in at least two IHSA-sponsored sports or activities in the final two years of their high school career. United High School senior and multi-sport athlete, Reece Bertelsen was named as one of the 26 athletes to make the All-State Academic First Team. Her fellow classmate at United, Landon Burns, was named to the All-State Honorable Mention team.

Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show on Thursday, United Athletic Director Jeremy Sharp says the honor is a huge accomplishment for Reece and Landon, as well as for United High School.

The entire list of all student-athletes named to the 2024 All-State Academic Team and Honorable Mention team can be accessed at IHSA.org. For the full interview with United Athletic Director Jeremy Sharp, visit the Sports Podcast section.
