Mr. William G. Fields, 76, of Galesburg, passed away at 8:55 am Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Seminary Manor.

William was born August 14, 1947, in Galesburg, the son of Robert L. “Lou” and Kathryn (Van Dell) Fields. He married the love of his life, Marilee J. Coziahr on August 16, 1969. After 53 years, she preceded him in death on March 10, 2023.

William is survived by his son William “Bill” Fields, II; his daughter, Kim Fields both of Galesburg; two sisters, Melody Morgan of Denton, Texas, and Cathy Wallberg; four grandchildren, Amber and Britney Fields, Chris (Jessica) Bruington and Eric Bruington; and six great grandchildren, Bryson Sexton, Addilynn Rosellas Stewart and Michael G. Stewart, Amai’Onna Dominique Washington, Brandon, and Makenna Bruington. He is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert, and Ronald.

William attended Galesburg schools and later went on to work for the Smurfit-Stone now West Rock Company for over 38 years. William was a member of the Galesburg Covenant Church. He had a love for fishing, camping, and cooking out with his family.

William was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00-11:00 am Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the chapel with Rev. Joe Hackett officiating. The burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in William’s name to the Covenant Church.
