Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 3, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Meyah Hunter. Meyah has been known around the Three Rivers Conference as a lock-down defender. Her task night-in and night-out has been to guard the opposing team’s best offensive player. Meyah was recognized for her defensive prowess with a placement on the All-West Division Honorable Mention Team.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is girls track and field senior, Reece Bertelsen. Reece picked right up from where she left off last season with a great day at the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougar Indoor Exhibition Meet at Knox College. She placed 2nd in both the 60 and 200 meter dash events. Reece also ran a leg on the winning 4×200 meter relay team.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Addie Seitz. Addie was recently honored by the coaches of the Lincoln Trail Conference. She was voted to the LTC’s All-Conference Special Mention team. Addie had dead-eye aim from beyond the 3-point arc all season long and averaged 3 assists, while leading her squad in blocked shots.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is girls indoor track and field senior, Syriah Boyd. Syriah is already working hard to improve on her 2nd place finish in the 200 meter dash at the 2023 Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Championships. She earned a first place in her specialty at the Western Big Six Conference Indoor Meet in Moline. Syriah even threw in a first place in the 60 meter dash and ran a leg on the winning 4×200 relay team.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is boys track and field freshman, Jamil Johnson. What a great first career varsity meet for Jamil. In the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougar Indoor Exhibition at Knox College, he jumped his way to a pair of top-3 finishes. Jamil placed 3rd in the high jump event and 2nd in the long jump.
