April is National Alcohol Awareness Month. Behavioral Health Counselor at Eagle View Community Health System Amanda Bolte shares some statistics:

“28.8 million adults ages 18 and over have an alcohol use problem. 753,000 youth from ages 12 to 17 have an alcohol use problem. We have 3 million deaths per year due to alcohol misuse. We don’t realize how dangerous binge drinking can be, especially when people are drinking large quantities of alcohol in a short amount of time, the consequences that can come from that can be extremely dangerous.”

Alcohol Awareness Month began in 1987 by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence to bring awareness to the risks and consequences of alcohol use and provide information on treatment.
