LaMarr W. Evans, age 85, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away suddenly at 3:55 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Oquawka. He was born January 26, 1939 in rural Carman, Illinois, the son of Oscar Alfred and Roxie (Gittings) Evans. LaMarr attended schools in Bushnell and graduated as Valedictorian from Terre Haute High School  Class of 1957. He then attended the University of Illinois, receiving several Ag related scholarships and graduated with a BS in Agriculture. He was a member of Nabor House fraternity and Delta Theta Phi. LaMarr then attended Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his Law Degree in 1964. 

On December 20, 1962, he married Marilyn Joanne LaDue in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2015.
LaMarr’s career began in Stronghurst with Fort, Attorney’s at Law in Stronghurst, Illinois. He was appointed States Attorney in Oquawka/Henderson County where he served two terms. He has helped many people locally and  served the area faithfully until his death.. LaMarr more recently co-owned ” The Quaint Shop ” on main street in Oquawka, which he operated with his mother Roxie and currently with his brother, LaRoy Evans. He was a founding member of Hend-co Hills Golf Course and was a member of the Biggsville Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards. LaMarr also has been most active in 4-H in Henderson County for many years.  

LaMarr is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Brian) Lindo of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, three sons, Cory (Christel) Evans of Oquawka, Illinois, Cody (Jenna) Evans of Burlington, Iowa, Cale (Stephanie) Evans of Oquawka, Illinois his grandchildren are Jordan Lindo, Emmett Lindo, Baylan Evans and Brigston Evans, Ahleah Hook, Emily and Cade Wilkerson, Andy and Isaac Evans. There are three great-grandchildren. Also surviving LaMarr are his sisters, Roxanne Tipton and Carmella (Raymond) Hollaway, and his brothers, LaRoy Evans, and Rick (Melanie) Evans, and his very special life long friends, Pat and Andrew Schardt in Gladstone, Illinois. LaMarr is preceded in his death by his parents, wife, son Craig, and two sisters.

A funeral service for LaMarr W. Evans is planned for 10:30 AM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois. Memorials are being established for either the West Central Booster Club or the Henderson County Fair.
