Many high school sports programs around the state of Illinois have been dealing with a cold and stormy start to the spring sports season. At United High School, both the Red Storm softball and baseball teams have not been able to get a game in so far this week due to storms rolling through our listening area.
The last action for the softball team was back on Saturday the 13th in a doubleheader against Galva, while the baseball team also got their last action in over the weekend in a doubleheader against West Central.
The Red Storm boys and girls track and field teams were the last to take the field, as they competed in a meet in Bushnell this past Monday.
Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, United High School Athletic Director Jeremy Sharp discussed how the program handles so many cancellations in a single sports season.
Both the Red Storm baseball and softball teams are scheduled to play on Thursday. The baseball team is at the Lewistown/North Fulton co-op known as the LVC Miners. The softball team is scheduled to be at home against Annawan/Wethersfield, however rain in the forecast yet again threatens the status of those games.
