Share

At 4:30 a.m. (April 9) Ameren was alerted to an outage impacting approximately 2,000 customers in the Monmouth area. Crews were dispatched and found a piece of equipment had malfunctioned inside a substation. Crews arrived on scene and worked with dispatch to reroute power from other sources in the area to restore nearly 1,500 customers by 9 a.m. Currently, 500 customers remain without power. Ameren plans to bring in a mobile substation to the site. Crews will work to transfer power to the mobile substation and that will restore power to the remaining 500 customers by approximately 10 p.m. Crews will then begin work to the equipment that malfunctioned.

Ameren plans to notify the 500 impacted customers directly of the estimated safe restoration time.  We encourage all customers to update their contact information online and to sign up for outage alerts and notifications by visiting Ameren.com/alerts.

Part of Monmouth’s residents woke up to no power this morning, Tuesday, April 9th. According to Ameren reports, the outage began at 4:32 am and expanded from Monmouth to Kirkwood, Roseville, and as far south as Saint Louis. Local school districts canceled classes for some of their buildings within their districts due to the outage. Restoration began around 9 am as Kirkwood residents were back on the grid, but outages still remain with over 400 Ameren customers still without power around Monmouth. Cause of the outage is reported due to equipment damage.
