Prairie Players to Present ‘Exit Laughing’

According to Gina Barreca, “It’s not that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but it’s your best friends who are your diamonds.” And that seems to be the case in Prairie Players Civic Theatre’s upcoming production of Paul Elliott’s Exit Laughing, directed by Sonrisa Nolan.

The play is being performed at Prairie Players Civic Theatre, 160 South Seminary Street in Galesburg. Production dates and times are April 12, 13, 19, 20 at 7:30 P.M. and at 2:00 P.M. on April 14 and 21. Ticket prices are $16.00 for adults and $9.00 for students.

The play follows the escapades of three women who “borrow” their friend’s ashes from the funeral home for one last card game. It’s an evening where anything can and does happen: a police raid, a visit by a male stripper, and a new perspective on life for all involved.

The cast includes Amy Rutledge, Angel Peterson, Chris Curtis, Susan Winters, and Dayton Powell.

Exit Laughing is made possible through a grant from the Illinois Arts Council and is sponsored by Watson-Thomas Funeral Home & Crematory. For more information and to order tickets go to PrairiePlayers.com.
