Ruby P. Steele, age 90, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 1:57 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. She was born September 6, 1933 in Carman, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Linda May (Smith) Waterman. Ruby was raised in the Lomax/Dallas City area and she attended schools there. On March 25, 1963, Ruby married Bud H. Steele and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2016. Ruby was a full-time homemaker. She loved fishing, crosswords, word searches, music and dancing. Mostly, Ruby loved her family and friends.

Ruby is survived by one daughter, Betty Sue Steele of Monmouth, Illinois, one son, Bud (Star Jones) Steele of Monmouth, Illinois, her grandchildren, Darren (Lindsay), Ashley (Wes), Blaid (Kelly), Austin, Codi (Kayla), and Zach. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters and brothers.

As were Ruby’s wishes, cremation is being accorded. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Western Illinois Animal Rescue in Monmouth, Illinois.
