United Red Storm Gaining Confidence Before Postseason Begins

Story by Kadin Rogers

The United Red Storm softball team is coming off a stretch of games against quality opponents in the past week. Last week, the Red Storm played two games against the (17-3) Knoxville Blue Bullets, while also sneaking in games against (17-0) Ridgewood, and a Monday night double header against the (13-6) Mercer County Golden Eagles. All together, United’s last 3 opponents combined for a season long record of 47-9. This series of games against quality opponents comes as United is gearing up for seedings and pairings to be announced for IHSA softball regionals coming up in mid-May.

Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, Red Storm softball coach Marc McMahon discussed how their experience with good teams in the recent weeks can prepare for them for the challenge of post-season softball coming up in just a few weeks.

IHSA softball regional play will begin on May 13th. United is in the class 1A Williamsfield sub-sectional A, and will either be at Ridgewood or West Central for regionals.
