Story by Kadin Rogers

The United softball team has had a number of the games on their schedule either cancelled or rescheduled due to rain and cold weather that has hit our listening area this early spring. The Red Storm were able to get a game in on the road against Monmouth-Roseville last Wednesday however, and United was able to earn their 2nd win of the season in a 5-3 victory over the Titans. Amber Brunswig, Rhylnne Toops, and Emma Lair all went 2-4 in the effort with Brunswig knocking a home run in the win, as well as Brooke Hennenfent driving in 2 RBIs. Pitching-wise, Brunswig threw 88 pitches in 7 innings with 4 strikeouts. Overall, United now sits at 2-5 on the season.

Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show on Tuesday, United softball coach Marc McMahon says the team is starting to grow confidence as they gear up to hopefully get more games in down the stretch.

United is currently scheduled to be on the road tonight at Orion, however the status of that game is jeopardy due to more rain hitting the area today. For the full interview with Coach McMahon, visit the Sports Podcast section.
