A Sectional Championship Loss Will Turn Up the Heat for West Central Going Into 2025

The West Central Heat softball squad won the most games in program history this past season, ending the year at (31-4-1). Head coach Dylan Voyles took over the softball program from Scott Swiler before the 2023 season. Swiler won 115 games in his six full seasons with Heat, including a super sectional appearance in his final season in 2022. Coach Voyles has kept the momentum that Swiler had going, winning 59 games in just two seasons. The 2024 Lady Heat had just one senior on the roster, albeit a key one, in Shelby Bowman. Bowman will play college basketball at Western Illinois University this coming winter. The season ended with a loss to the Ridgewood Spartans in a sectional championship. The Spartans are playing in the state finals in Peoria this weekend.

West Central Athletic Director Joel Zaiser says, as disappointing of a loss as that was, it will definitely feed the fire of the Heat going into next spring.
