Story by Kadin Rogers

The Monmouth-Roseville girls soccer team is heading on to sectionals tonight after capturing the program’s first regional title on Tuesday evening at Pattee Fields in Monmouth with a 1-0 win over Beardstown. Tuesday’s game was scoreless with 11 minutes left to play, until freshman defender Daniella Carmona knocked through a penalty kick that ultimately gave the Titans their first regional title. 13-4-3 Monmouth-Roseville will now take the long treck just a couple miles north of Springfield to take on 20-4 Williamsville. Speaking on the postgame show after Tuesday’s tense contest, Titans girls soccer coach Zach Statham attributes the team’s success to their unwavering toughness in practice and throughout the course of every game.

Statham has been the head coach of both the boys and girls soccer programs since the inception of the girls program in the spring of 2021. This evening’s sectional match between Monmouth-Roseville and Williamsville will kick-off from Williamsville at 5:00.
