Sandburg Baseball Starts Region 4 Sectional Friday at Rock Valley

The Sandburg baseball team earned the sixth seed in the Region 4 Division II tournament and will play in the sectional round Friday and Saturday at Rock Valley.

Sandburg will open the three-team, modified double-elimination tournament at 9 a.m. Friday against No. 10 seed Sauk Valley and take on the host Golden Eagles, who are seeded third, at noon. The Chargers went 1-3 against Sauk Valley in the regular season and did not face Rock Valley.

The winner of the sectional advances to the Region 4 Division II finals to be played May 16-18 at the highest remaining seed. The schedule for the sectional tournament is below.

May 10-11 at Rock Valley
Friday

Game 1 — No. 6 Sandburg vs. No. 10 Sauk Valley, 9 a.m.
Game 2 — No. 3 Rock Valley vs. No. 6 Sandburg, noon
Game 3 — No. 3 Rock Valley vs. No. 10 Sauk Valley, 3 p.m.
Saturday
If all three teams are 1-1:
Game 4 — No. 6 Sandburg vs. No. 10 Sauk Valley, 11 a.m.
Game 5 — No. 3 Rock Valley vs. winner Game 4, 2 p.m.
If one team is 2-0:
Game 4 — 2-0 team vs. 1-1 team, 11 a.m.
Game 5 — If necessary, 2 p.m.
